Hi, all! It's been a little bit since I posted here. As most of you are undoubtedly aware, I take pride in what I do and I do my best to ensure everything works perfectly all the time. I spent a ridiculous amount of time building Hammy into what it is today, and it has a ton of things that are interlocked and, to be honest, easy to accidentally overlook. Please keep in mind that as of this writing I am a solo developer, and I'm far from being perfect. I strive for perfection in what I do, but by nature of being human I'm going to make mistakes. Sometimes they're obvious ones. Sometimes they're things that will get brought up to me down the line as a "so... are you ever going to fix this?" situation. I wanted to write this to help better understand my own feelings on the situation of errors vs. notifying me.
It's Not Personal; It's Factual
First off, I don't take things personally. If there's a bug, misinformation, etc., it's important to always be open to taking in that criticism. Hammy was built to be a site people can trust, not just another source you have to keep verifying against the others. This really hit home yesterday when someone was talking about how they went over their league. Their complaint wasn't about Hammy (they didn't even appear to know this site existed), but instead of telling the creators of the sites they were having issues, they just moved forward. And this is a problem both for users of our platforms and our platforms as a whole. What I think a lot of people don't take into consideration is a concept that I see all too often: we can't fix something if we don't even know it's broken. This is also something that could be construed as relationship advice, but when it comes down to it, the simple fact is that, at least for some of us (I will say at least one other RollerCoin tool operator isn't in this boat), we will happily field any complaints/reports because they help us see how you use the site. Maybe you're using it differently than we would. Maybe you just see things in a different way. Maybe there's things we can enhance or strengthen. All of these things are more beneficial for us to be told than to just hope that at some point we notice it on our own.
Which leads to the next question you may have: "How do I report things to you and make requests?"
How to Contact Hammy
There are two main ways to get in touch with me: toss me a message on Discord (I'm in the RC server so I'm easy to find) or just toss an email to admin @ teachmetogame.com with your request, comments, etc. I strive to respond to every single message I get. I can't make any promises that I will always respond in the way that you're hoping, but I'm pretty communicative about why I may or may not do something and/or will work with you to figure out how to make things better. After all, Hammy isn't and never was about me, despite its name. I've always had these tools internally; me bringing Hammy to the public was me sinking weeks into making them usable for you all. And I will forever uphold the concept that Hammy is about the community. So ask away, complain, and I'll try to do what I can to make Hammy an ever-evolving place for players of RollerCoin. From our accurate RollerCoin calculator app to our automatic RollerCoin room optimizer, RollerCoin miner marketplace analyzer, and more, it will not stop growing -- and neither will I!
Thank you for being part of the community here. Whether you're a referral of mine to RollerCoin or someone who already played there prior to even knowing about me or this site, we are all, as part of the Hammy community, growing into a source of greatness. I'll be releasing more community-based features in the near future to help bring the Hammy community even closer together and to give even better access to me, so definitely look forward to that if you're enjoying your time here. We are expanding far beyond the confines of RollerCoin, and you're more than welcome to take a seat on this rocket with us! Expect some changes coming in soon based on reports and things I've seen along with general enhancements, which I'll always make notes of so you can see exactly what was changed, when, and where!
