In RollerCoin, the general assumption is that leagues are made to show not just your power (in terms of room hash rate) but also your earnings. In reality, they do the exact opposite: higher leagues actually lead to less potential earnings than you could already have. If you aren't familiar with how they actually work, you really want to read this before you decide to jump to the next league. As we see on a daily basis, it appears the vast majority of players still are not fully aware of how the system works and end up causing themselves problems as a result.

The Original Goal of RollerCoin Leagues

The different leagues were originally set up to help segment players into earnings brackets so that everyone wasn't just pulling from the same overall pool of payouts. As you can see on our RollerCoin league calculator, this does work when you look at just the maximum power for each of the different leagues. But the problem is that you can exceed that limit -- by upwards of 300x as of this writing if not more.

As a result of these changes, if you really dig into things and look at the people at the top of your league, you will often find that a lot of them are earning more than even the strongest player in the game, which we call the "RollerCoin King." If you're curious, you can see his power and how much he'd be earning at the optimal split at the top of the page linked.

Now, I previously covered the current RollerCoin meta being hamsters in a previous article, but there are a couple of other features to also be aware of, which I'll dig into deeper in future articles: Freon and deposit bonuses, both of which offer temporary bonuses to your room's power.

Will the RollerCoin Meta Change?

At this point, there still doesn't seem to be any movement in changing the meta. The leagues were updated not that long ago (made worse), more hamsters keep coming out with extra bonus power for rooms, and now we have the Hamster Gym almost completed to make hamsters even more important. To change the meta at this point would be a huge overhaul of not only how leagues work but also how power works. Hamsters can't just have their bonuses removed, so that part isn't going anywhere. They can add more power to miners, but that just contributes further to the already rampant power inflation we're seeing (the RC King has gone from only a few ZH to 1 YH+ in only a handful of months, for example).

The best way to really put this is that even making an attempt at changing the game's meta from being hamsters would cause a massive disruption in the game well beyond what we're already seeing, so I hold firm that those in charge will (hopefully) not make that decision anytime soon without fixing the underlying issues. But then again, it's entirely possible they're trying to move away from being a miner game to being a hamster game. After all, we are seeing a lot of similar games pop up as of lately.
