We have finally started to get our answer as to what is going to happen as a result of that disastrous RollerCoin exploit we experienced over the weekend: a massive ban spree. As the image above shows, the official statement is that 255 people were banned as a result of this, although it appears that it may not be the whole story.

Why 255 Isn't the Full Number
Reading into the statement, it says "they will all face the strictest punishment." As one might expect, this means a permanent ban from the site. Further, if we look at the actual messages people have been getting (as posted in the official channels), we have two different types popping up depending on the person:

On the left represents someone that was permanently banned and the right is a weekly one, presumably for those who were seen as causing less damage to the game's economy based on what they did with their RLT once it was obtained.
It's impossible to tell how many others are caught up in this right now, nor as deep as this goes.
Is This the Right Solution?
There has been some work done to reverse a little of the damage that was done to the overall economy. Some miners have already had their charts reverted, progress on the community goal has been reduced to account for the bans, and RLT/items were clawed back from users. There is undoubtedly going to be a lot that can't be accounted for as well, especially over such a short period, as there was so much intermingling of coins over the weekend. A lot of us purposely avoided the marketplace and ensured we did not buy, sell, or have any listings during these few days just so we could avoid any chance of being caught up in the mess. But there are also a lot of people that are considered trustworthy that are seeing the message on the left. It's going to be a rough ride for the admins to fully vet out who is and isn't part of this; my fear is that there are going to be legitimate people permanently banned for no reason just because of something they weren't aware of.
The Positive of this Weekend
If there's one good thing that's happened over the weekend, it's that top miner prices have been tumbling again. We're now to a point where multiple miners sit above the 60 PH/RLT mark as of this writing, which is a good sign for things like burn events in the future.

This is also likely related to the fact that the new season is about to come out, bringing about even stronger miners than before, so it's going to be fun seeing just how low things get in the next week or two! For now, the thing to keep an eye on is definitely the value of parts, which are still sitting at about twice the pre-exploit values, along with wool, which is still completely empty on the marketplace (there were over 300 prior to the situation).
As always, keep up with Hammy and I'll keep you updated on everything you need to know about RollerCoin's status!
