Hi, all!

It's been an interesting week in the RollerCoin world. We're nearing the end of the last season as I write this, we had a massive marketplace exploit happen that was left to fester for far too long ending in damage far surpassing what was necessary (and the damage is still ongoing as of now), and Hammy has been called out for... well, being too powerful of a toolset for RollerCoin players (along with a threat). While some in the community are already aware of what the future holds, I figured I'd go ahead and start letting more people know as well. For those that were recently banned, hi! For those who weren't, you're just as welcome.

Hammy is Currently on Maintenance Mode

A lot of people have asked for features for Hammy. I've responded to the majority with the fact that the site is currently on "maintenance mode," but I realized that this term may not be as well-known and wanted to elaborate. Maintenance mode is essentially when an app stops getting development outside of things like security/major bug fixes. There may be small updates here and there on features, but for the most part it's abandoned. What this means in terms of Hammy is that a lot of the tools I was releasing and teased about are currently not going to be coming out. I will, however, be doing analyses, news updates, and so on as I get the time/energy to do so, and I will ensure that all tools remain working as they should (that means the marketplace analysis, auto-optimizer for rooms, hamster expedition tracker/community compilation, earnings calculators, history, league shift charts, and anything else you see on the site). I may dip into releasing some of the other tools as time goes on as well, but they're pretty much guaranteed to be gated at this point due to my own safety.

With that said, let's talk about Hammy 2.0!

What is Hammy 2.0?

I was forced to take a step back a few weeks ago and evaluate what I wanted to do with Hammy. From community outrage to admin outrage over how much information I've brought to light, I realized that I wasn't in a very supportive community. I had spent months building Hammy for everyone (I've ALWAYS had every one of these tools for internal use -- building Hammy was about the community, not me), and the thought of just trashing everything I had built just didn't sound right. So I started a segue into something much, much larger.

While Hammy is built around a single game, RollerCoin, Hammy 2.0 is effectively like Hammy on steroids. It currently supports full databases, season passes, market analyzers, and more for five separate games. It has community features. It has easy ways to report information that may be inaccurate and be rewarded for it. It's built around the idea of giving back to those who contribute. From in-game giveaways and special stores for items to real-life crypto/gift cards, and maybe physical items down the line, Hammy 2.0 is about far more than just being an information powerhouse: it's about bringing players together in the P2E world, giving the best possible tools for evaluating movements through games, and building a tight-knit community. While it only supports 5 games right now, I've been building it in a way where I can adapt it to any P2E game. Whether it's a mining game like RollerCoin or an RPG or base builder or TCG, it doesn't matter -- it's designed from the ground up to be adaptable and to give all the information you could possibly want.

Further, I've been talking to and working with others in a more supportive environment. Instead of being attacked for building things or being threatened as a result of it, I've been building relationships with site owners who actually like what I do and are working with me to better facilitate my gathering of data so I can build out the best tools possible for their games.

What to Look Forward To

The first games Hammy 2.0 supports are already live and have been. The devs have proven themselves to greatly care about the community, and I've been having a lot of fun over the weeks building up things around supporting them. If you're already interested in hearing more about them, you can reach out to me via Discord and I'll give you an explanation. I'll make an official announcement here on Hammy once the new site is ready as well if you'd rather wait until my own side of things is done. I've also started guilds on a couple of the games, so as a community we all essentially reward each other just for working together toward common goals!

Thank you for following Hammy, and please remember that this is NOT the end of Hammy; while development may not be as heavy on this site anymore, I will still try to keep up with events and analyze things like the market and other things as I'm able to. For those that end up joining the new site, we will happily welcome you into our family!
